Be a Mentor!

All the people on the left are mentors. And you, too, have the power to be a mentor. All it takes is three easy steps. When you ask God to guide you, and you base yourself on wisdom from a deep and trusted pool, know that you're a more positive influence in the world.

Learn One

The first thing to do is to listen in, and find something that catches your attention, and memorize it. It could be a visualization, affirmation, or rap. It might be the Serenity prayer: "God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and wisdom to know the difference."

Do One

See how it applies in your life. If it's the serenity prayer, reflect on each of the three parts of the prayer. Try applying it, three times a day. Write notes to yourself, as reminders.

Teach One

Once you've gotten the wisdom in hand, you're ready to mentor someone else, to teach them, sharing what you know. Encourage someone, when they're down. Help them to understand what you've learned. Then, you're being a mentor. It's really that easy. There's no "best moment" to be a mentor. Surprisingly, sometimes, when we feel terrible, uplifting others is the best thing we can do for our own happiness: that's where real joy is found!
